The Nature of Change
The concept of contemporaneity challenges notions of time. My work on the nature of change – the form of time – is defined by studies on the correlation between urban form, ecological form, and processes. It concerns the possibility of a radical re-conception of temporality and history, defining the logic of coexistence of multiple landscapes, formed by natural processes, societal practices, dispositions, and technical interventions. Extreme weather events and altered landscapes, whether in urban areas or operational grounds on land, water, or oceanic spaces, consistently highlight the interplay (mediation and fragility) between form, processes, and performance. Their study and design are the underlying object and subject of my (present and future) research. Spatio-temporal (transcalar) design of water sensitivity is my entry point to the nature of change in urban morphology and environmental studies.
